What I cannot understand is that on what basis was Afridi freed of the burden? An ODI win against West Indies, a Semi Final place in the World Cup? A series win against New Zealand??
He was the only force that had united that lonely wondering, selfish, out of focus 13 players (Younis khan is many things but not selfish) to become one of the best ODI teams in 2010-2011 and Hey! How can Mr. Ijaz Butt take all this success in one plate. May be it was too much for him or for someone else, so Butt was shown the flag to axe the captain, just like due to some video (that has not been proved to be real yet) Three of our best Test/ODI players including a good captain were silenced for 5 years and our beloved Chairman said nothing.

Afridi has been punished for taking Pakistan into Semi Final in WC'11, just like Younis Khan was punished for his Mistake of T20 2009 success.
Fine, axe Afridi, maybe he crossed a few lines, I understand. But what I dont understand is that why in the world was Misbah ul haq appointed captain then. this guy is 34 now, on the brink of his retirement. One more flop series and it would be end for Misbah. Then why him?? We still have a young gun as Mohammad Hafeez, a well reputated All rounder, who have proven himself in the recent series. Why not appoint him as the captain. He can at least guarantee you that he will be fit till the next WC, he is a captain of his domestic side as well.
May be Mr, BUTT cannot see at all and he is being shown the road till now, from someone within or from outside. I dont know. But as a Pakistani cricket fan, I would like to see SHAHID KHAN AFRIDI back!!
