PART 2: PULSARS, SUPERNOVAS & NEBULAE

Last time I asked a question about place with highest number of G. The answer is Sun. Many of you would know which one was it, but few of you would know how much is it. Its 28 times the gravity on Earth. Yes 20G. It means that as soon a you step on the surface of Sun, all of your blood will be pulled from your upper part of the body into your feets, and you would be crushed by the weight of your 'Hair'. The reason for that high amount of gravity is the mass of the Sun, meaning that higher the mass, higher the gravity. Oh, but that's not it, there's a place with even more Gravity than our Sun.

In the 12th century, there was an explosion and a new star appeared on the sky which outshone any other star in the sky. It was so bright that it was seen even in the daytime. The explosion was the result of a death of a star. Questions arrive that how does a star dies and why.
I'll answer the later first. We all know that the stars are constantly burning, and becouse of the gravity, good amount of energy remains within the star, when the star stops burning, or shall we say runs out of Fuel, the energy within the star becomes unstable, and The Gravity pulls the energy in, thus causing catastrophic result, the Death of the Star.

Now, how does the star dies? The answer is simple! BOOOOOOOMM! Well its not a joke, It is a boom, but the explosion is very bright as if billions of stars had joined together.This kind of explosion caused by the Death of a star is called a SUPERNOVA.

Back to what happened in the 12th century. Well, whatever happened, we may not be able to see that, because now all we can see is this

The Crab Nebula. It is a cloud of different gases like hydrogen and oxygen. All that is left of the star is, crushed into such small size. The core is called the neutron star.

This neutron star being discussed is spinning at rate of 1800 revolutions per minute. As it spins, it ejects particles at the speed of Light, making them a continuous flow of particles, like a beam. These beams can be heard on Earth as Pulses, that is why we call them PULSARS. This star have the gravitational pull of 100 Million times that of Sun. The reason that it has so much gravity is that it has a mass of sun crammed into a a body just 20km in diameter. Thus one can say that gravity is not just about mass, but its about the Volume.

Well, all that happened to that star, will happen to our sun, thus ending our world.

Enough about gravity and such huge masses. What about a smaller scale??

Do you know that the our Universe is 99.99% empty?? Stunned?? How is it Possible? Are you 99.99% empty space. Can you see this space. Look at your PALMS for 30 seconds and you will see the vaccum.





OH! YOU ARE LOOKING AT YOUR PALM?? What you are a walking compound microscope!!? :p Of course you cannot see it. But you are 99.99% empty.

HOW MUCH WE KNOW ABOUT OUR UNIVERSE!

It is a common misunderstanding among us that our universe is nothing more than the sun and our 9 planets (which is another mistake, they are 8). Some, with a bit more more knowledge would say that our universe is our galaxy, MILKY WAY.

I am not criticizing any1, you may have all the knowledge about universe but you may not have all of it. Even I dont have any great knowledge, but I am here to share all the info I have.

I'll discuss the details chapter wise and the discussion would be from basic info to somewhat core info.


CHAPTER 1: GRAVITY

Newton in 1600s discovered that every object has a tendency to attract other object. Usually you would say that if the objects attract each other than why aren't you attached to you are screen right now and why aren't you pasted on the wall in front of you? Well believe it or not, but gravity is the weakest force in the universe.

Yes, but despite being so weak, this gravity is the force that has stuck earth and other planets orbiting the sun, and the moon orbiting the earth. Believe it or not but earth's gravity creat a wave on the moon, that jolts the rock of the moon 7 meters. YES A WAVE OF ROCKY SURFACE 7 METER HIGH! and this tide is the only reason known to man that cause the moon to rotate as well!! If there was no gravity pull for the moon then its shape would have been like a rugby ball.

Oh yes, it is the moon, people,  looking like a rugby ball, but its not like it is like a rugby ball, its just an image!!


Gravity varies according to the mass not the size. If you were on the Jupiter, you would feel twice the gravity, you might be able to raise you hand, but not much. Same goes for Neptune, which has 1.5G, where G=9.8m/s2, the grAvity of our planet. Likewise, there is an exoplanet WASP 8B, the planet light year away  from us that has the gravity of 5G, which means that you would feel your skin dangling on your body, and your hair despite being curly, would lay flatout on your head. You may not be able to raise your hands at all, and your face would become very heavy

Below, is professor Brian Cox at a testing center, where he is in a machine that has created 4G gravity and look at his facial expression

He looks a bit disturbed but altogether a bit alright, he said that at 4G he felt his head was very heavy and had problem breathing. Now this is how he looked when he went to 5G

Look at Professor Cox skin, its dangling and according to him it was quite hard to speak and he couldnt see anything at a distance of half a foot, he said that everything was very fogy.

So you see people, if you think that you can go and train at 4G like GOKU (DragonBall Z fans would know what I am talking about), then forget it, you may not be able to raise a hair, forget hands. But I would salute Mr. Brian Cox, for his brave step of getting into this much trouble, just to show us how it feels like being in higher gravity areas.

Oh yeah and one more thing. Do you know which place in our Solar system has the highest gravity and how much is it?

I'll tell you when I return to continue some more info about gravity and our cosmos and influence of gravity in space. Oh and one more thing, if you feel that its boring, then I would like to tell you that I  haven't even started yet. There's a lot more to come.

WEIRD GADGETS!!

Looks like people are running out of ideas, so they now mix different gadgets into one box to build a new one, here are a few examples of how people are wasting the use of technology in creating useless devices, that are still quite expensive.

LUNCH COMMUNICATOR 

A research group at Ochanomizu University in Japan has developed an unusual bento box called the LunchCommunicator. It consists of a clear lunch box installed with a Creative webcam and a Viliv S5 MID.
The purpose of this lunch box is a bit awkward. Once it is opened as your mother prepares your lunch, the webcam automatically records the whole situation until Mom closes it. And when it is opened again on lunch break, the lunch box plays back the preparation footage while you eat or while you try ignoring your lunch and you begin to feel guilty of not eating what your mother has prepared.
The webcam also records while you eat, so there is no escape from your mother if you plan on giving your lunch to an officemate instead.
Sounds like an ultimate guilt-tripping device.


DIGITAL PEN

Here's something weird and useless, its a pen that is digital, but you still have to write you know :s. the only advantage is saving some ink.

The Dane Elec Z Pen can keep track and digitize pen movements on a sheet of paper. The data is stored in a 1GB receiver unit that also stores the software needed to read the data. The digital pen uses 2 V393 batteries that can last for 75 hours. The receiver comes with a rechargeable battery that can last for 20 hours for each full charge.

VACUUM CLEANER WITH A CAMERA

So now what, you will use a vacuum cleaner to record videos??

Robotic vacuums have become more popular since they can clean floor areas by themselves without any help. A convenient appliance indeed to have at home for doing those regular floor cleaning chores. And Samsung has just upped the ante by adding a camera on it on the recently released TangoView Robot Vacuum Cleaner.
The Samsung TangoView VC-RL87W Robot Vacuum Cleaner now features a built-in video camera. Not only does it clean those floors, the robot vacuum can also double as a home monitoring device that allows home owners to view what is going on in rooms that the robot vacuum is currently cleaning. Video feed can be viewed from a PC, a smartphone or a tablet (OH! So this is nothing more than a way of selling Tablets and Smartphone). This mode is only activated when the cleaning mode is off, so whats the use then '~'. The TangoView robotic vacuum also comes with a built-in mic that allows users not only to see but also to hear what is going on. The Samsung TangoView Robot Vacuum Cleaner is expected to be available in Korea at any time now. It is expected to cost around 799,000 Korean Won or around US$707. I'd rather spend that much money for some outing...;D

The Brother Earthquakes and their Sister Tsunamis

WOW!! Its not like I am excited about all the destruction in JAPAN. I saw the whole coverage for 3 hours constantly, feeling sorry for the poor people. I even met a Japanese student that day, who had his head in his hands, near to tears, watching his country facing one of the biggest disaster of all time. I did tell him that I felt very sorry for him.

He told me that he talked to his mom on cell phone and she told him that she cannot contact any of their relatives, which could have meant that the landlines were completely destroyed or that..... well lets face it, this kind of destruction hardly seem to leave anyone alive.

I said WOW! because the size of the tsunami wave that came that day was huge. even the cameramen shooting the live telecast were amazed. HOW! how does an earthquake, despite being so destructive itself, can bring upon something even more destructive than itself??.

TITAN..... A Hope of Life in Deep Space

Titan [TY-tun] is the largest moon of Saturn and the second largest moon in the solar system, rivaled only by Jupiter's moon Ganymede. Before the Voyager encounters, astronomers suspected that Titan might have an atmosphere. Scientists also believed they might find liquid seas or pools of methane or ethane; water would be frozen due to Titan's low surface temperature. Expecting an unusual world, Voyager 1 was programmed to take numerous close up views of Titan as it flew past in November of 1980. Unfortunately, all that was revealed was an impenetrable layer of atmosphere and clouds. Only slight color and brightness variations were observed.

Titan's surface temperature appears to be about -178°C (-289°F). Methane appears to be below its saturation pressure near Titan's surface; rivers and lakes of methane probably don't exist, in spite of the tantalizing analogy to water on Earth. On the other hand, scientists believe lakes of ethane exist that contain dissolved methane. Titan's methane, through continuing photochemistry, is converted to ethane, acetylene, ethylene, and (when combined with nitrogen) hydrogen cyanide. The last is an especially important molecule; it is a building block of amino acids.

Two potential signatures of life on Saturn's moon Titan have been found by the Cassini spacecraft. But scientists are quick to point out that non-biological chemical reactions could also be behind the observations.

Titan is much too cold to support liquid water on its surface, but some scientists have suggested that exotic life-forms could live in the lakes of liquid methane or ethane that dot the moon's surface.

In 2005, Chris McKay of NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field and Heather R Smith of the International Space University in Strasbourg, France, calculated that such microbes could eke out an existence by breathing in hydrogen gas and eating the organic molecule acetylene, creating methane in the process.

The glow of Titan's extensive atmosphere shines in false colors in this view of Saturn's gas-enshrouded moon acquired by the Cassini spacecraft visual and infrared mapping spectrometer during the July 2, 2004, flyby.

While flying over the terminator, where Titan's day and night meet, both the dayside and night sides are seen at various wavelengths. In these views of the crescent moon, the sunlit side is on the left and the nightside on the right. The blue image shows the sunlit crescent as observed at a wavelength that pierces through the thick atmosphere to show only the surface. This image is much smaller than the other three images to the right, because it does not show any atmospheric affects.

 

In contrast, the green image shows the immense size of Titan's atmosphere. This is revealed by the fluorescent glow of methane gas, which extends over 700 kilometers (435 miles) above the surface, showing that the atmosphere nearly doubles the size of Titan. This glow is at a wavelength of 3.3 microns, five times the wavelength visible to the human eye.

 

The Titan have a lot of hydrocarbons under its surface. Scientists all over the world are certain that if an electric surge of 10,000KV or more, is sent into the underground reserves of titan at the same time, from all the directions. The reaction of the hydrocarbons would create a massive ocean of pure water on Titan and then may be the atmosphere of the titan would drop as well

EGYPT & the Curious Case of Pakistani People

What is to say of these people, when united they can build something that can withstand 3000 years of rough weather and threats from Mother Nature (Equakes and S-storms)...Well obviously I am talking about The Egyptians and The Great Pyramids.....

And now look at wat these folks are doing...ousting a Ruler who had ruled over them for 30 years......How are they throwing him out of the country??? Answer is a MILLION March....A protest on street, following the footsteps of their sister countries Tunisia and Jordan. 'o'

Yeah you would be surprise if you are a pakistani.....Why? Come 0n on people!!!

Protests on streets....long marches? Clashes with the law enforcements entities?? All this had been happening in Pakistan since 2005. Its our weekiend freetime hobby! :-)) After the Sacking of the Chief Justice of Pak, a million lawyers stood their ground against the government and overpowered General Pervez Musharraf. And now since 2008, we have been seeing more n more million marches every week...but none too effective....WHY?

I'll tell you why! In 2005-2006 when a million lawyers took to the streets they were one unit...all had the same agenda, all had the same motto.....Reinstate the CJ, Free the Judiciary. Then Tunisians came out saying they need freedom from the Kingship of their superior..again all had the same motto....... and then came the Egyptians....again the same agenda, again the same reason "GO MUBARAK GO!".....

But why is it not working now for Pakistan, when it had in 2006? When all is wat the parties want is the Re election of the government, why are they unable to bring the "CHANGE" or as Altaf Hussain says "INQALAAB". I'll tell you why, because every time a million people start their procession, they are not under one flag i.e., Pakistan. Instead they are either under a red flag with an AXE on it, or riding a BICYCLE, or roaring with a LION or flying with a KITE....All of these people share the same motto, but has different Agenda, some wants to bring reform, some wants to rid off land mafia, some wants to have their good old  days back and some just want to have a head on collision.

Today, I say this! Right here, right now. If for just once, these people throng to the street waving none other 'than the Green with White Crescent and Star' no one can stop them from overpwering the government. I am not a politics student, not a journalist, not a beaurucrat (see I dont even know how to spell Bureaucrat)...I am just an ol'folk who watches TV and think with an open mind just for 5 minutes everyday (thats how Einstein penned the Theory of Relativity).

If you are a Pakistani and have been in a rally, or seen one on TV, close your eyes for 1 minute and visualise, a million people on the road with a MILLION GREEN FLAGS, all waving one salogan in harmony, all walking hand hand, shoulder to shoulder! You will see the light of freedom, you will see a prosperous Pakistan, you will see a United Pakistan.

ZZZzzzzzz! yeah well I am going to ma bed, I do feel a bit awkward after writing all this, but hey, I would like to share my views with you, after all 38 Pakistanis do visit my blog you know : D NIGHTIE NIGHT

The Quake, The Bird and The Fish....It happened again people!

Boy this is getting a bit wierd......first a 7.3 magnitude earthquake jolted the whole Pakistan.....A Major range earthquake which when came in October 2005 of the same magnitude killed thousands of people and swallowed villages; and this time only 10 died and a few building (1 story homes) were destroyed. 90% of the people in Karachi didnt felt a thing, yet the measurement of the tremor was done in KARACHI '~'.....

And then 3 days later Tajikistan is hit by another earthquake and again Upper region of Pakistan is jolted by a magnitude 6.1 shock, yet Thanks to God, no casualties....

but even though of all this blessing, one mught feel a bit suspicious...SUSPICIOUS HOW? Oh! I dont know maybe because of the fact that two earthquakes never occur so spontaneously in this region....also the fact that the two earthquakes Tajik and Pak one were on two different fault lines and that no heavy casualties were reportes in either.......

And yet the birds keep falling off the sky??? 'o'

Thats right, this article is not about the quakes, its about those birds again...they fell off the sky again. In USA again.

Around 500 dead birds have fallen from the sky in Louisiana, found scattered along a quarter-mile portion of highway in Point Coupee Parish. The discovery is approximately 300 miles south of Beebe, Arkansas, where just days earlier thousands of the same species of birds also fell from the sky.

AND....

An estimated 300 dead birds have been found on the side of the I-65 highway in Alabama, WAFF News reports. According to wildlife biologist Bill Gates, the birds are grackles, a common black bird (OH MY GOD! BLACKBIRDS AGAIN!!), one of the same species reported in the past weeks to have been found dead in mass quantities in other nearby states like Arkansas, Louisiana and Kentucky

Initial tests conducted by biologists on the red-winged blackbirds and starlings found in Arkansas revealed that the birds suffered internal injuries that formed deadly blood clots 'o'. Countless explanations have been speculated, from intense high-altitude weather like lightning or hail to disturbance from fireworks. Disease and poison were determined to be far less likely causes, though full test results won't rule them out until next week.

The latest occurrence of more dead birds turning up in Louisiana only compounds local residents' worries, as in the week prior to the Arkansas blackbird mystery, 83,000!!! dead drum fish washed up along a river about 100 miles west of Beebe. Wildlife officials claim the incidents are not related.

THE HELL THEY ARE!!!
